Gerald (Jerry) Greenspan (born November 22, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey) is a retired American basketball player.

Greenspan, who was 6' 5", played forward.

College

In college he played at the University of Maryland. Greenspan was a power forward with the Maryland Terrapins.

In 1962 Greenspan led the team in scoring (380 points and 15.2 average) and rebounding (235 rebounds and 9.4 average). In 1963 he repeated as leading scorer (365 points and 17.4) and rebounder (184 rebounds and 8.8 average), and also led the team with a .749 free throw percentage. That season, he was named All-America honorable mention, and All-ACC 2nd team.

He finished his career with 501 rebounds, 37th all-time in Maryland history.

NBA

In 1963 he was drafted by the Syracuse Nationals in the 3rd round (7th pick) of the 1963 NBA Draft.

When the team relocated from Syracuse, New York to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and became the Philadelphia 76ers, Greenspan remained with the team until he retired following the 1964–65 season.

Hall of Fame

Greenspan, who is Jewish, was inducted into the MetroWest Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.[1]
